Phil Barres

Phil was a former junior player and graduate of FAU University. He took over as primary owner of Glen Head Racquet in 2017. He has been well known in the business community in this area for years and his hands-on knowledge of owning and managing a tennis club combined with his up-beat personality, make him someone you immediately want to have dealings with here at Glen Head Racquet and Gold Coast Pickleball club.

Jason Strong

USTA Tournament Director/Coach

Jason has been very involved with tennis in this community for over 30 years. He is a professional 1 USPTA-certified tennis instructor with six years of experience as a director of tennis, a USTA member, and a 5.0 NTRP-level player.

Jason has created extensive adult and junior lesson programs at multiple well-known local tennis clubs in the area for demographics such as Quickstart, High Performance, and Cardio Tennis. His clinical approach, combined with his fun, high-energy style, is the perfect mix of intensity while staying relaxed.

Jason's dedication to the short-term goals process of learning provides students with an accelerated rate of learning and retention. This is all done while still keeping things fun and entertaining. As a former USTA Tournament director, Jason recently was awarded tournament director of the year. Jason was also the driving force behind Glen Head Racquet's winning Club of the Year.

 
 

David Seidner

Head Pickleball Professional

With a rich background in high school and college tennis, combined with over two decades of teaching experience, David Seidner has seamlessly transitioned into the world of pickleball. His dedication to the sport has seen him achieve significant success in tournaments along the east coast, including notable victories in the 2023 APP NY senior pro mixed doubles and team event, as well as the Sayville ATP Open and Sportime 4.0+ Battle of the NY.

Recognized as one of the top 50 players and teaching professionals in the tri-state area, David approaches instruction with unparalleled passion and a genuine love for the game. His commitment extends to players of all levels, from novices to seasoned tournament competitors. With David's guidance, players embark on an exciting journey towards pickleball excellence and enjoyment.

Cornel Marola

High-Performance Coach

Cornel started coaching in Romania in 2004. He trained advanced Junior players with high national and international results. After coaching and playing in tournaments for 6 months in Italy, he moved to the US in 2006 to continue coaching tennis. He coached many of the best Junior players from the top 50 in the Eastern USTA. He has gone on to coach players from the pro challenger and futures level, right up to US Open and Australian Open players. He was a top 10 Junior in Romania, National Junior Doubles Champion, 3 time International Junior Doubles Champion and won several Junior Singles tournaments in Romania, Ukraine and Moldavia.

His use of solid methodology and drill reinforcement gets his players to a high level of consistency here at Glen Head Racquet. He is an asset to his players and the club.

Gary Harrison

Coach / Youth Coach

Gary was a coach in his native country of Jamaica from 1998-2012. He represented Jamaica in ITF tournaments and now coaches many Junior and Adult players here at Glen Head Racquet Club. He is known for his bright personality and easygoing attitude and his electric smile. He takes pride in making tennis an enjoyable experience for children and adults of all ages and is always a positive presence at the club. His energy is contagious to his lessons and his co-workers

Tyrone Trail

Tyronne has been coaching Tennis for over 25 years. Throughout his years of coaching, he has worked with numerous top-ranked Jamaican tennis players at both the junior and adult levels. Many of those players have represented the Jamaican Davis Cup team. Tyronne was Jamaica's head coach for the junior Davis Cup team from 2004–2007. In 2006, he received a diploma for high-performance coaching in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also received a USTA certification in Jamaica for high-performance coaching in 2008. He has been a mainstay pro at Glen Head for over 15 years and is well-liked by every student and fellow coach. His expertise matches his friendliness, which you will experience when you meet him.

Alex Martinez

Alex Martinez came to Glen Head Racquet in 2020 and immediately became a success. His amazing knowledge and experience coming from France adds a fresh perspective to our staff. He played D1 college tennis at Grand Canyon University and D2 at New York Institute of Technology (ranked 34 in the nation) while winning three consecutive East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships. This, along with his great attitude, has provided him with the ability to have a large following in a very short period of time. His smooth playing style translates very well into his lessons where junior and adult groups in particular seem to really gravitate to him. He will only become more popular here as he continues his coaching at Glen Head Racquet.

Nick Schneider

Nick Schneider came to Glen Head in 2020. He attended Syracuse University and has succeeded on the playing field in sports such as soccer, tennis, Pickleball, hockey, and beach tennis, make him an incredibly talented coach as a result. His sports IQ is immediately evident when you meet him. This translates directly into his lessons where his superior abilities combine with his easy Boston style for a truly great lesson. Nick coaches all levels at Glen Head Racquet for tennis as well as all levels as a pickle ball coach with us here at Gold Coast, Pickleball doing lessons, clinics, and programming.

Greg Fuji

Coach/Pro Shop Owner

Greg has been a part of the staff at Glen Head Racquet & Fitness Club since 2006. As a promising junior player, Greg moved on to play college tennis at Adelphi University on a scholarship. Greg has a keen eye for talent and specializes in teaching proper technique and the understanding of body mechanics of the game. At any age, from beginner level to high-performance training, there is something to be learned from this talented coach. Greg also understands racquet technology and has many high-tech improvements to add to your equipment. He is also an expert on the latest racquets out there.
